The Antiquarium Turritano, built in the early 1970s and opened to the public in 1984, is located within the archaeological area of Turris Libisonis, the Roman city upon which the modern city of Porto Torres was constructed. This colony boasted the only port in northwestern Sardinia that had established direct connections with the ancient port of Ostia. The exhibition is divided into two sections: the first one concerning statuary and architectural sculpture from religious buildings, and the second one related to everyday life materials found in the baths, tabernae, other private structures, and necropolises. Numerous panels provide information on the location and key findings from various excavations carried out in the city and its surroundings, while a large planimetry displays the excavation areas within the current urban layout. Within the Antiquarium, there is also a heated room from a bathhouse.
