Mandrolisai is a region with a strong winemaking tradition, where climatic and geographical conditions result in a climate characterized by minimal rainfall and long summers, ensuring the perfect ripening of grapes. The soil is characterized by granitic sands, and the combination of these factors makes its wines special. These wines are identified by the designation “Mandrolisai DOC,” reserved for red and rosé wines produced from local grape varieties.
Several wineries in the area offer the opportunity to explore the winemaking traditions of Mandrolisai through wine tours in their vineyards. The vineyards in Atzara, Meanasardo, and Sorgono are among the most important in the region and have received significant recognition at the national level, being included in the list of “Historical Rural Landscapes” in Italy.
In Sorgono, you can visit the Cantina Sociale del Mandrolisai and sample its wines. Additionally, a guided visit to the archaeological park of Biru ‘e Concas (Sardinia’s Stonehenge), a megalithic complex with a concentration of menhirs from the Mediterranean dating back around five thousand years, is also available.
In Meanasardo, you can visit the vineyard located near the Nuraghe Noltza, an important archaeological site that holds the secrets of a millennia-old landscape.
In Atzara, another significant center in Mandrolisai, various wineries offer vineyard tours and tastings of both red and white wines.
Wine tasting of red wines, white wines, and dessert wines paired with a charcuterie and cheese platter, typical Sardinian bread, local desserts, and a guided tour of museum sites.
