A week's walk from Oristano to Buggerru immagine

In Sardinia, a unique experience awaits you to discover local artisans and nature’s treasures. Start your journey in the city of Oristano, where you will visit the I.S.O.L.A, the institute dedicated to local craftsmanship, and admire artifacts in ceramics, wood, leather, glass and fabric. Continue with the Cammino delle 100 Torri, crossing breathtaking landscapes and unforgettable stops such as Arborea and Marina di Gutturru. Finally, you will walk the Santa Barbara Mining Path up to Buggerru, where you will have the opportunity to visit the old abandoned mines or to relax on its splendid beaches. A trip for lovers of crafts, nature and adventure!

What to expect:

This journey requires adequate physical preparation as you will travel an average of 20 km per day. It is advisable to bring comfortable clothes, comfortable trekking shoes, backpack covers for the rain, k-way, rainproof trousers, sunscreen, water bottle as essential elements.

Giorno 1

Oristano

Start this adventure in the city of Oristano to discover the secrets of local artisans. Start with the I.S.O.L.A (Sardinian Institute for Artisan Work Organisation) where it is possible to admire some creations of Sardinian master craftsmen, such as ceramic, wood, leather, glass and fabric artefacts. Next to the shop, you can visit the ceramics laboratory, where you will see live some stages of making ceramics: shaping on the lathe, shaping with a mould, finishing, graffiti decoration, etc. by the C.M.A. Cooperative Witness the creation of leather artifacts by a craftsman who has been working on the theme of traditional masks for years. Finally, you will visit the “Pinokkieria”, where you will see the creation of wooden animals and characters with characterizations studied according to twentieth-century and contemporary lines.

100 Towers Walk to Piscinas

After visiting Oristano it’s time to get going! In the next 4 days you will walk a section of the marvelous 100 towers walk through unforgettable landscapes. You will begin the adventure in Torre Grande, just outside Oristano, and following 4 paths of about 20km each you will arrive at Piscinas, whose beach is called the “jewel” of the Costa Verde and it is famous for its sand dunes shaped by the mistral wind. The intermediate stops will take you to Arborea, Torre dei Corsari and Marina di Gutturru e Flumini.

Santa Barbara Mining Trail from Piscinas to Buggerru

Once in Piscinas you will leave the path of the 100 towers to walk a short stretch of the Santa Barbara Mining Path which crosses the entire Sulcis-Iglesiente region. You will stop in Portixeddu, 16km from Piscinas and 9.5km from Buggerru where you will end this adventure. In Buggerru you will have the opportunity to visit ancient abandoned mines or to relax on its wonderful beaches.
