Historical treasures of Sardinia

You will begin your journey with a tour of the lively city of Cagliari, the capital of Sardinia. A local guide will guide you to the discovery of the historic centre, admiring the historic architecture of the Torre dell’Elefante and the Bastion of Saint Remy. 

On the second day you will head towards Barumini to visit the archaeological site of Su Nuraxi, a nuragic complex that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You can admire the imposing stone towers, symbol of the Nuragic culture, and discover the uses and customs of the civilization that inhabited these places.

You will continue your journey with a tour of the city of Oristano on the west coast. Here you will have the opportunity to visit the archaeological area of ​​Tharros, a site that preserves the remains of the city founded by the Phoenicians in the 8th century BC. In Oristano, those who want will have the unique opportunity to visit the I.S.O.L.A. managed by the CMA cooperative of artisan artists. A special occasion to discover artifacts in ceramic, wood, leather, glass and fabric.

For the fourth day of your itinerary, we advise you to dedicate a few hours to a guided tour of the Tamuli archaeological area which includes three giants’ tombs, a nuraghe and a village, dating back to the Middle and Recent Bronze Age (16th-13th century BC C.).

On the fifth day you will reach Alghero to visit the Nurra, an area of ​​Sardinia characterized by the presence of numerous Nuragic archaeological sites, such as the Nuragic Complex of Palmavera and the necropolis of Anghelu Ruju which you can visit with a guide. You can explore these archaeological sites on foot or by bicycle, admiring the ancient towers, the tombs of the giants and the Nuragic villages, which represent some of the most significant remains of the Nuragic civilization.

The sixth day of your itinerary can be dedicated to the visit of the archaeological site of Monte d’Accoddì between Sassari and Porto Torres. The temple of Monte d’Accoddi dates back to the pre-Nuragic period, about five thousand years ago, and it is a unique ziggurat in all Europe. End the day in Porto Torres for a guided tour of the town and its important traces from the Roman era.
